Samba Intermitted Auth Problems

Hi,

The problem is that some times users seem to lose their connection to the server (or the samba server is losing connection to the password server).

There doesn't seem to be anything in the logs but the PDC does show this error at odd times...

Code:
" Reason: Unknown user name or bad password"
"  User Name:	SAMBATEST<HOSTNAME>"
"  Domain:  <WORKGROUP>"
"  Logon Type:	3"
"  Logon Process:	NtLmSsp "
"  Authentication Package:	NTLM"
"  Workstation Name:	\\19.40.1.251 "
I have tried changing security to = DOMAIN but this just stops any user from being able to connect.

Here is the main part of smb.conf
Code:
[global]
        workgroup = XXX
        netbios name = XXX
        server string = XXX
        security = SERVER
        encrypt passwords = Yes
        obey pam restrictions = Yes
        password server = 19.40.1.22 10.41.2.200
        passwd program = /usr/bin/passwd %u
        passwd chat = *New*password* %n\n *Retype*new*password* %n\n *passwd:*all*authentication*tokens*updated*successfully*
        username map = /etc/samba/smbusers
        unix password sync = Yes
        log level = 3
        log file = /var/log/samba/%m.log
        max log size = 100000
        socket options = TCP_NODELAY SO_RCVBUF=8192 SO_SNDBUF=8192
        preferred master = No
        domain master = No
        dns proxy = No
        wins server = 19.40.1.22 10.41.2.200
Can anyone please shed any light on this problem?

I was wondering why you are using the 19.40 scope ip adres, this belongs to the Ford Motor Company.

No idea why they have used this ip address but it is a good point tho.

This problem is from a customer of ours that is using our software which runs on redhat server. We need to have it working with their network but users seem to lose connection and their PDC displays the above
