samba in suse 9.0

This is trivial but irritating. When I first installed, the desktop icon was working properly, so I know it can work. Then there was a major disaster and I had to reinstall. Now YAST is unable to detect samba workgroups and the icon doesn't function properly. I can work around it but this irritates me. Smb.conf is configured. What have I missed?
