I installed samba and I configured it from the YAST2 but I cant run it

so where is it supposed to be installed so that I can run it ??

What do you mean by "run it"? Do you mean start the daemons, or do you mean access the network?

I mean by run "start" as if i start mozilla and konquerer

I cant find it in the start menu

Samba is not a program that you would run. I think you may be looking for something like LinNeighborhood or smb4k.

Smb4k is imho the better of the two it is much easier to use. All you have to do is know the ip of the samba server and bob's yer' uncle.

As for setting up the server goes, make sure you look through your smb.conf file and make sure everything is the way it needs to be. That is to say all your permissions are correct. Good luck. Gambatte.

If you run the yast2 program, select 'Network Services'. Click on the 'Samba Server' icon. You will probably be prompted whether you want to install the 'samba-winbind' package.
Next a YaST2@<your-hostname> dialog will open up where you can elect to enable Samba, enter the Domain/Workgroup name, as well as enabling/disabling some common shares.
You can also add new shares, and select the type of authentication used.

but yet I cant understand how to use it !!

open smb4k up and type in the search tab the ip address of the samb server. Then "add" it, then click the shares you want mounted. In the preferences set the directory you want the shares to be mounted to. I think the default is home/<user>/smb4k. Good luck.

You may want to look at the samba guides first. If you understand what is happening behind the gui tool it will make it easier to use.
