samba in redhat 8
 

i have some problem in seting up samba in redhat 8.

i think that i set up samba server on my redhat machine.
but windows machines only see my workgroup (namely linuxg)

when i click on workgroup name on windows machines, windows can not show my linux machine. some times it shows an error, some times shows nothing.
also windows machines can not ping linux machine by name.

when i make the domain name of my linux machine same as one one the windows domain controller machine, the windows machine see my workgroup and also my linux machine, but when i click on that icon, a message shows that can not access to linux machine.
in this state, linux machine can be pinged from windows domain controller machine.

Try SWAT (Samba Web Admin Tool) to set up Samba. I got samba up and running in not too much time by using this.
