Smile samba for newby


Hi all, well I want to be able to browse and share my network form linux machines. I have mixed os network. (linux and wondows) but I can not make linux share their sharing, windows box are able to see the linux machines , they see one folder but no able to bowse them, and on the linux side I just can not see other machines even linux, machines, so How do I do to set this up.

I am doiing this because I want to learn how to mix windows an linux , so I will propose linux as a solutions at work.

This is the online version of the book Using Samba by oreilly which may help you start.

It's also inlcuded with the samba package I think....

turn off the firewall and that should sort it !!!!!

im in the process of finding out the firewall rule which you could add to your ipchains so it can allow samab access through the firewall ok!

but that should let you seee the folders ok !
