Samba File Server and Windows 2000 domain

Hi everybody,
I've read lots of HowTo, Manuals, FAQs and Tutorials about Samba, but I
can't make it work...
I've a Debian machine with Samba 3 and I want to share several
directories with users of my LAN.
I want to set different permissions for each directory and all users of
my LAN are under a Windows 2000 domain.
After a lot of experiments I can see my server on windows clients
(under the same domain), but I can't access it.
Could you please explain (or give a link) me what have to be done?

You would first need to add the machine name to smbpasswd.

smbpasswd -a -m [client computer name]

Then join the domain on the client computer as root of the samba server.

smbpasswd -a -m [client computer name]
Doing this I get this error:

Code:
$ smbpasswd -a -m computer
Failed to initialise SAM_ACCOUNT for user computer$. Does this user exist in the UNIX password database ?
Failed to modify password entry for user computer$
And what means

?

Thank you.
