Samba domain name and server string keeps changing

Hello,
I have notice that in my Samba, the domain name that I gave keeps coming back to WORKGROUP while I gave an other name. It is the same for the server string.
Do you have any idea why this can occur?
Beside that the server works fine.
Thank you in advance for any help
Patrice

Check to see if there are any configuration tools that might be updating the config file.
For example, whenever you run Yast it will automatically reconfigure most services.

If this is the case, you may find a disclaimer at the top of the configuration file saying
not to edit the file but to use the config tool instead.

Thank you for your input
I'm under Debian, so Yast is not what to look for but it is a good idea and I will try to think of which programm could update Samba. I will first look at Webmin and Swat.

I have changed smb.conf rights to -R--R--R-- and with such rights nobody should be able to change the file... but yes the file was changed.
In fact the line workgroup = MYDOMAINE is erased which brings Samba to its default setting WORKGROUPS

I found the problem

Well I found the problem.
Under KDE-3 when you restart the network using the the GUI interface (kcmshell kcm_knetworkconfmodule), it changes the Samba domaine to the default domaine (WORKGROUP).
