Samba connection problems

I using Slackware 9.0 and it has samba 2.2.8.

Currently I have two boxes, one is my linux box, and one is a box running WinXP pro

I can ping the WinXP box, print to it with CUPS, and connect to it with the smbclient command:

# smbclient //winbox/c -U"user name"

as well as listing the general workgroup info
smbclient -L //winbox -U"user name"

The output lists both boxes as part of the workgroup and everything else looks fine, but if I try to connect to the linux box from windows it comes back as inaccessable.

I can´tconnect to it´s shares:from linux either

# smbclient //linuxbox/c -U"user name"

...after I enter my pasword. I get:
tree connect failed: NT_STATUS_BAD_NETWORK_NAME

What am I doing wrong here?

Here the output from testparm:

I don't run a firewall on my Linux box, and I got it figured out, although I did several things, and can't quite tell which thing (or things) I did to fix it.

maybe try:

smbclient \\\\linuxbox\\c -U"user name"

that format works for me while the forward slashes do not
