Samba configuration help

I'm having trouble getting samba to allow my Windows machines to login. I'm running a fresh ubuntu installation and here is my smb.conf file. It's very basic becuase I don't need a lot of security. I can see the machine in My Network Places, but when I click on it, and it prompts for login, I type in the correct log/pass but it just reprompts me.

#Custom Samba Configuration by Brian

[global]
netbios name = whitestar
workgroup = WORKGROUP
encrypt passwords = yes
wins support = yes

[homes]
comment = Home Directories
browseable = yes
writeable = yes
read only = no

[everyone]
comment = Everyone
path = /var/sambashare
browseable = yes
writeable = yes

#end

The Unix user accounts were already set, so all I did was type in

$ smbpasswd user

to set the samba passwords.

Pretty sure I've done everything right, but still having problems. I think I'm missing something in the [global] section, but not sure. Thanks for any help.

Cheers!

If everything is indeed correct, then I would check the Linux file permissions. This is the great "Gotcha" for Samba. You still have to satisfy the Linux permissions. The easiest way to do this is to create a group, put everyone that needs access to the files in that group and then make sure the group has all the correct permissions for the directory and files. Take a look at that and repost.
