Rep:
samba availiable at boot time
hello
I use xinetd , and swat for making samba to work.
xinetd , can run from boot and its ok.
but for completing the network I need smbd and nmbd.
with nmbd is ok, and it starts from boot
(/etc/inid.d/rc) but it does not happen the same with smbd.
(the end of rc file where i load samba)
......
#start xinetd
xinetd
#start smbd nmbd
/usr/local/samba/sbin/nmbd -s /etc/samba/smb.conf -p 192.168.1.10
/usr/local/samba/sbin/smbd -s /etc/samba/smb.conf -p 192.168.1.10
exit 0
----
do I have to write somewhat differently the line for smbd ?
Yes that is indeed what Im' saying. Using that command will modify the correct files to turn your smb (samba) service on each time you restart your computer.
If it doesn't post back and We'll see if there is another way to get it to automatically start up. However having said that, don't go restarting your linux box just to test it out. If it ain't broke then don't fix it
