cmoloney: In any of those docs you read, did you happen to see anything regarding adding samba to an existing 2k/NT domain? Right now at the house Im trying to add my RH9 box to my LAN there (LAN is complete with PDC runnig DHCP,DNS and WINS)and while I can get them to see and ping each other, I cannot transfer any files....it might have something to do with the firewall, which I didnt know about until I read your thread, and I will have to try disabling it.

regarding not being able to browse the domain...

what name resolution method are you using to reach the PDC? I didnt hear any mention of a WINS server... in order for you to reach a windows box via net use, \\computername, or browsing you must have a wins server on your segment or host file entries for each host on the linux box.

could be wrong, but something to cosider...

Hi,

If you want to setup a trusted domain with Linux and Win2k servers and want them to cooperate (PDC <-> BDC), you are going to need at least:

samba-3.0.0
openldap
db4
kerberos 5 or heimdal 0.6

As this can keep you busy for some days, I advise you to really weight if it is needed.

Regards

Andre
