samba and xp re-joining the domain

recently I went off with my computer which I had running in my domain for some months, flawlessly... But in the network where I had to be with my computer, I would (of course) be in another workgroup, so I removed the computer from the domain. So far so good...

Upon returning, I wanted to join the domain again but I get a very strange error, and have been looking for some hours on how to get it fixed again... I have a dutch XP, so I have to translate... bear with me, I'll describe what happens

- right-click on 'My computer' and choose properties, select tab 'computername'

- then I press the button 'change' and I get a window where I can change the identification. The computername remains the same, but memer of 'workgroup' should change in 'domain', so I type in my domain name (all uppercase, in case that that is necessary), and I get a window that asks for username and password, so I give 'root' and give the password for root... It takes a few seconds and then I get an error-message :cry: Here is what it says:

The following error occurred while becoming member of the domain 'PASTORAAT':

Multiple connections with a server or a shared source of a user who uses multiple usernames, are not allowed. Disconnect all previous connections with the server or shared source and try again.
:study:

I checked, and I can see no "multiple" connections. Even tried net use * /d, but that did not help either, for nothing could be removed (there was noting too...) :scratch:

I've been looking into my various logfiles, but they don't give me many clues so i would know what to do to get this straight. I tried the following things:

stop samba, remove samba account for machine, recreate samba account for machine, start samba.
stop nmbd and removed wins.dat , started nmbd again

Check the registry hack for XP and security stuff in the control panel

Stamp on the floor three times, give all machines the finger and retry...

None of those things worked.
I am using samba 2.2.7a (planning on migrating to samba3)

Anyone with any ideas on what to try next? I can send some log output, but I think you should specify which log since there's pretty much of log on debug level 10.

I can also give the samba configuration, tough these settings apply at least:
domain logons = Yes
security = user
domain master = True
encrypt passwords = True
os level = 128
preferred master = True
smb passwd file = /usr/local/samba/private/smbpasswd
workgroup = PASTORAAT
preferred master = True

the OS I'm running is Slackware 8.1, kernel 2.4.18

just so Samba doesnt get confused, only have 1 preferred master statement and make it equal to yes. Add "local master = yes" also see if that helps.
