I have a RH7.3 server running Samba 2.2.6a. Getting this error message
Connection reset by peer
in all my "machinename.log" at the sametime that the error message come up in the log the Winblows machine locks up and can not do anything related to the server email, telnet, file sharing. If you just wait a little then you can go back to doing what you want to. I have tried all the polices edit in WinXP and Reg hacks. I was wondering if this was a Winblows problem or a Linux problem? The reason that I ask is that other standardize services "email, and telnet" become unusable. I have replaced the switch and also durning this "down time" the WinXP machine can browse the internet. So i can kind of rule out Network problems. Is there some stupid time out setting in WinXP that I am not seeing or something? Or am I actually beaten by Bill
I haven't played around with SAMBA because I don't have any unused computers on my network to get access to. I'll give a shot at it. Do you have a full clean Windows XP installation or just an upgrade to Windows XP. Both are different setups in the registry. What verison of Windows XP. Are you able to see other Windows computers using a lower Windows version (Win95, Win98, WinME). Can those computers access your Windows XP computer.
