Samba & Roaming Profiles -- Strange Problem

I've run into a strange problem with Samba and roaming profiles, which were until recently working. I'm using security=domain, and the domain is NT, not 2K. The domain controllers are all NT, not Linux w/Samba. The Linux w/Samba box is used solely for home folders and roaming profiles.

As said, things were working. Now users are getting an error in which NT says that the "server copy" of the profile has the wrong security, that either the user or the administrator's group must have rights on the folder. Well, the user has the same rights they've always had, and clearly have the necessary rights to write to the profile folder. In fact, if I delete the profile folder in the user's home folder on the linux server, I see the a new folder created when the user tries to log on to a Windows client. But the profile itself is never created.

Any clues as to what is going on?

The only significant change I've made to the configuration recently was to fiddle with smb.conf to enable cups support for using the linux machine as a windows print server. But I didn't mess with any of the home folder permissions.

TIA for any ideas.
