Samba and DLink Gateway
I have smb set up on a Redhat 6.2 box and can map drives from my Win2k Pro box to the smb shared resource on the linux box.
If, however, I use the network configurator on the linux box to set the default gateway for the one nic on the box to the IP address of my DLink DI-713P DSL router then I get the error 'The semaphore timeout period has expired' when I try to map the resource from my win box. I have the same problem if I set that network adaptor to use DHCP, presumably because it gets the same gateway setting from the router. The filters and port blocking on the DI-713P are the out of the box configuration - I can't find that it is set to do any blocking, but obviously I don't have something set right. Any insight would be greatly appreciated! |
I have a similar and maaybe related problem with a Dlink wireless nic on a w2k pc. I can browse the rh box from the w2k box but can't browse the other direction. what's bizarre is that when I first installed it I managed to get two way comms but somehow lost it.
