Running Ubuntu in VMware network troubles
Actually, my internet works quite well. I have my Ubuntu virtual machine set using bridged so that it connects directly to my network. The problem is that it gets the same ip address as my host machine. I don't want this because then it's like I only have one machine, not two. My IP addresses are automatically assigned so how do I get them to be different?

you don't want to use bridged mode on vmware then, you want to use NAT. that'll give the VM and the actual host different IPs.
