rsh reseting incoming display depth

Hi my problem is this, I need to rsh from comp_a to comp_b and set the display of comp_b to be on comp_a. however the program that I want to run on comp_b requires a DISPLAY depth of 8. I am using SuSE10.2.
I have already setup the Xservers file with an entree:
:1 local /usr/path :1 -cc 4 -depth 8 vt8 -deferglyphs 16
I have enabled X11forwarding, xinetd, rsh, and rlogin.
I can rsh to comp_b and setenv DISPLAY comp_a:0 then see xclock. I can also do this from DISPLAY comp_a:1.
my problem is that when I try to run the program that requires a color depth of 8 I get an error that states "no appropriate visual" Is there a way to change the color depth that is coming through the rsh?
I know that rsh is not secure, but for this situation it is required and not an issue. any help would be appreciated.
Thank you

I have been able to do this with a mandrake machine, but I can't find the differences between the suse and the mandrake that allow the change in color depth. Does anyone have any ideas as to where to start.
Thank you 2/12/07
