Have you searched the web? Here is some basic info:

http://www.hw.cz/english/docs/rs485/rs485.html

RS-485 is a full-duplex serial data bus communication interface. It just refers to the electrical / hardware end. There isn't a standard for the protocol.

If you need to communicate with a box that requires RS-485 you can build or buy a RS-232 to RS-485 converter.

What type of information are you looking for and what are you
trying to accomplish?

I don't know of any applications for networking PC's using RS-485. 10/100 BaseT is similar to RS-422.
