Routing with multiple static IP's?

Greetings!

I'm somewhat new to Linux networking. I know it can be a very powerful thing.

I currently have ADSL, and I am using a Cisco 675 Router. I have 5 static public IP addresses. The router is currently configured with one network using DHCP and the other network has the 5 statics on it, by way of a virtual permanent interface.

I plan to move next summer. My ISP has stopped using CAP and is now using DMT line encoding for their ADSL. I won't be able to use my Cisco anymore. They will provide me with a SpeedStream 5660, which is a "modem", not a router. I'm left with paying extra for a Cisco 827, or using the SpeedStream, as a modem, into a Linux PC and having the PC do all my routing for me.

I currently have a SmoothWall box setup as my firewall, but it has nothing to do with my static IP's aside from using one of them. Is there a package/distribution I can replace Smoothwall with, that will work as a firewall, and also do the routing for my 5 statics?

I've tried to include as much pertinent information as I can. Please ask for clarification if needed.

Thanks!

any Linux distro + iptables will work just fine. i would however recommend getting a switch rather than 5 NICs. You Linux box can connect to the speedstream on 1 NIC and the switch on the other. You can statically assign the IPs to the computers connected to the switch. All Linux needs to know is that sutff comming into the WAN interface bound for any of your 5 IPs needs to go out on the LAN interface which can be done using iptables or just the kernel routing table.

it would basically be the same as if the IPs were private except you get to actually leave out a step...NATing. You dont have to NAT with real IPs behind your router/firewall.
