Routing web traffic to different IP?
I am a newbie with 2 servers:
Server A: Lots of current webtraffic, Linux ES3, Plesk 8, running 4-6 domains or so. Server B: Brand spanking new (actually not even purchased yet), but will be in a different location than server A. I would like to perform some updates on Server A and was wondering if I could use server B to send incoming traffic while the updates occur. I may like to do this periodically in the future incase a problem or more updates arise. Copying the files isn't bad because only a handful are needed. The main thing is that I don't know how to divert the traffic to server B. Or even how to set up Server B so that it will work just like server A. How can I accomplish this? Go easy, I know very little about Linux or IP stuff. Thanks John |
You would access the router settings and point it to the other PC's IP

Router? No idea how to do that... any hints? The server is a dedicated server with Hostway so I don't think I have access to a router... just the server itself I think.

Why not just change the DNS entry to point to the other server? |
