Routing Multiple Internet Connections

I currently have 2 internet connections, and I'm wanting to "bond" them and maintain a single source IP. The end setup I'd like to have is:

Code:
                       (VPN Internet Connection 1)
PC/LAN -> VPN/Router ->                             -> Colocated (fast) machine in a datacenter -> Interweb
                       (VPN Internet Connection 2)
I understand I can do route-based load balancing without the VPN, but I'd like for it to be possible to have a single connection to a server utilize both internet connections. I assume the only way to do this is as above, where I will move the internet connections/colo machine into the same network as my lan.

I have no problem setting up the VPNs and getting them routed over the correct connections, however my question is how do I have the routing in a way that the connection is balanced? Do I simply need to enable routing in the kernel and set static routes with "ip route equalize", or do I need something more?

Donot use the equalize handle as it will tear apart your connection.
"Equalize" send packets(packet to packet) randomly out on both interfaces instead of established connections. I'd rather cron ip rou flush cache for more effective load balancing without equalize handle.

p.s. If in the above case, 2 internet connections belongs to 2 different ISP then make sure that your dns queries are handled properly. Probably i'll suggest you to use static routes for them(tabled). Try to use either only one of them or make two different client set refer to two different DNS servers.
