Routing

I am trying to set up routing between two linux machines on the same network

192.168.4.1 [LINUX BOX1]10.0.0.1 ------- 10.0.0.2 [LINUX BOX2] 192.168.3.1

What commands would I have to use to be able to ping something on the 192.168.3.0 network from 192.168.4.0

hi,

so there are 2 boxes, and 3 networks with 1 directly connected to both of them.

box1 :
ip route 3.0 next-hop via 0.2

box1 client :
ip route default next-hop via 4.1

box2 :
ip route 4.0 next-hop via 0.1

box2 client :
ip route default next-hop via 3.1

and,
#/sbin/ip route help --> should give you a full guidance of course.
#man route

I'll give it a shot when I get back to the room.

This is part of a VPN project (site to site) even though the two linux boxes are on the same network.

The main thing I want to do is ensure connectivity between two hosts on the 192.168.4.0 and 192.168.3.0 networks before I set the vpn up.

as a reminder, a VPN use another ip/subnet from the physical router link - so you should assign a different gateway and subnet for the VPN tunnel.
