Question Road Runner DHCP Problem

Hi all,

I'm trying to get road runner to work on my linux box (it's an old P120, running red-hat 6.2). When i connect to my LAN using DHCP, i get all the IP and other info just fine and everything works great, but when i try to connect my cable modem to that same ethernet card, the computer just sits there when trying to find a DHCP server. I'm a newbie, so i may be missing something painfully obvious, but i know for a fact that the DHCP for Road Runner works, cause my Windows box connects perfectly using it.

Any help is greatly appreciated (and i would hate to have to use windows as my server

Hi.
It's been a while sinc eI last used Roadrunner. I'm more familiar with Cox, but however. What is the method that Timewarner used for roadrunner authentication? is it a computer name?, or mac address?
Usually, you have to go to your windows startmenu, type winipcfg
enter. Then a window comes up and you'll see your IP and your gateways and your broadcast server and dns. So, copy all of those down. And then go to the Network Configuration in redhat, type in all the info. Set your ethernet card to open the DHCP connect at Boot up time. Then when you boot check if bringing up the eth interface gets a big green OK. Then you should be set.
Try it, and see what happens,
