rhn9 with dhcp no go

i have run many distros of linux through my computer and with every single one i have run into a problem with my internet. right now i am currently with red had 9. my problem is that when it boots everything checks off ok and when loaded it displays the correct ip address and subnet mask, but when i try to access a web site, it says it is not found. i have winXP on another hard drive and boot with that to access the internet since it works fine with no hassle. i really would like to get rhn running fully so i can dump microsoft's POS they call winXP. i am running rhn9, using adsl through dhcp in winXP.

Still no gateway listed..

Check your dhcp server is supposed to provide you with the gateway number,
or whether you have to give it manually..

the dhclient script may use a -G option to ignore the gateway provided by the dhcp server..
While dhclient is starting, do ps ax to see it's command line options..

i tinkered with the idea a little bit on the linux box and check it out more tonight, but so far i've edited the if_eth0 config file and added the gateway parameter with the correct ip, then restarted network to see if anything changed, and nothing did. my route still does not want to acknowledge a gateway and display the ip. what other way is there to manually add a gateway to my dhcp client. would pump or dhcpcd work better for my situation?
