for question 1
you probably need to setup iptables which is a firewall, sorry, can't give you step by step, check out the manual

for question 2
you need to steup a samba server, and you need edit this file:
/etc/samba/smb.conf
run:
man 5 smb.conf
to find out the syntax of this file, sorry, can't give you step by step, there are many things to change.

for question 3
Setting up a ftp server is easy. In Redhat 8, open file /etc/xinetd.d/vsftpd
make change like this:
disable = no
then run
/etc/rc.d/init.d/xinetd restart

Unhappy

I am trying to set up ftp on my Linux (latest Enterprise release) but am having a hard time. I don't have this file /etc/xinetd.d/vsftpd. However, I created gssftp with the contents:
disable = no
then run
/etc/rc.d/init.d/xinetd restart

Can someone help me here? Thanks a lot.

xinetd is extended Internet services daemon, before it was called inetd, since you have latest version installed, RHEL?, so I believe you have xinetd in your system, run following command:

rpm -qi xinetd

It will give more information about this software package.

Mine is xinetd-2.3.7-2, yours are newer, so the config files in your system may not be stored in the same location as mine. Use "man xinetd" to get more information. Good luck!
