Hello!

Are you using a setup with a static adress or dhcp?

Greetings

Are you using pppd?

pppd should grap the nameserver addresses from your isp when it starts. In which case, /etc/resolv.conf should just be a symlink to /etc/ppp/resolv.conf. pppd will update the latter as necessary.

No idea. I've never used Mandrake and I use a router/modem combo to access the internet. Much easier than faffing about with usb/cable modems. I just use dhcp which grabs the necessary info from the router. The router handles all the details of talking to the isp.

So what are you using to connect? Some KDE/GNOME frontend widget? Whatever you use, it must retrieve the nameserver addresses and store them somewhere. Just a case of finding out what it's playing at.
