resolv.conf

If i connect to irc i cant /dns my own hostname no IP is returned, my
/etc/resolv.conf is typical of any other box i've ever setup
nameserver xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx
nameserver xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx

however when i'm connected the 2 lines seperate to create two empty lines

nameserver xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx

nameserver xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx

don't know if this is related, but i've never seen this before
both sets of dns number are good and the NS delegations are functional
other users can /dns my hostname and get an IP address

Distro is debian

any clues as to why ?

Try to add your Isp's name server again.. If they already listed then also give them again..
