Require unique account for each user that accesses internet

I'm looking for some software that will act as an account based firewall that will also log all traffic enabling an admin to trace a specific site back to a specific user. For example, let's say you have 3 terminals providing free public internet access. I'd like to place a single linux firewall in between those terminals and the router. Anyone who attempts to connect to the internet will be prompted to enter an id/password or to register a new account. All traffic would be logged and traceable to each user account. Ideally, i would love to find some software that can run on ARM devices. Is there any software that will provide these features? It needs to be user friendly and platform independent. In other words, i need to be able to connect windows, mac and linux clients to it. Thanks for any suggestions.

I think you might be looking for a "captive portal". You can build your own or look around for Zeroshell or something similar, since Zeroshell won't run on ARM as it is.

What kind of authentication do you have to work with? That is to say, how are your usernames and passwords going to be managed? Or will that be part of the project as well?

It may be that there may be several subprojects that have to fit together, including authentication, temporary routing, and metering/logging.

Captive portal is popular.

Might consider VPN to proxy/server.

Some firewalls might be useful, untangle.

I think a captive portal is what i'm searching for. I do need the portal software to manage the user accounts. Something similar to a forum registration. Enter id, email, pass. Click link in email to activate account. Then login to portal with id/pass to access internet. Any tips for using coovachilli as a captive portal? Any other recommendations?
