Requesting a new DHCP lease

I have been trying to experiment with DHCP to diagnose
some problems and think that I can solve them by
attempting to renew a lease. However, there doesn't
seem to be any way to do this with dhcpcd. I have tried
to cancel the current lease with dhclient -r eth0, but this
doesn't work:

Can't bind to DHCP address: address already in use

I'm sure I have read somewhere on this site that this can
be done.

Anyone familiar with how to do this?

Just kill your DHCP client and run it again.

Easy enough to kill dhcpcd, another to rerun dhclient. I had to
use the boot script file to do it, but it does now work.

Thanks for your help.
