remote X login through XDMCP
Hi all,
I am using Fedora Core3 on my system. I have completed the procedure twice outlined in many XDMCP-HowTo documents. When I attempt to connect to my system from my friend's one who is also running Fedora Core through XDMCP, the connection time out error pops up. I have revised all X server configuration on my system, but failed. I am using XDM. The problem that I figure out is the output of the command: netstat -l | grep xdmcp There is no line I get; it means UDP port 177 is not open on my system. My system is simply a system just like anyother system on the local network. We have dedicated server on our local network, and when i try to connect server through XDMCP from my system or my friend's one, it allows to connect. Its means X server is correctly configured on the server machine. I don't understand why X server is not working on my system???? Any idea to turn on UDP explicitly? How should i tackle this problem??? Thanks in advance, Asif Qaiyum, Islamabad. |
Did you flush the firewall rules with iptable -f?
Can you ping? Have you changed the Xaccess to allow everybody? Also, do not trust netstat. xdmcp may not be registered. It is not on my system. |
Thanks for your prompt reply....
Yes, i have issued command iptables -F. I can ping my system from any other system on the network I have changed /etc/X11/xdm/Xaccess to allow every one to connect to X server running on my machine. Any thing else.......I would like to hear more from you....as I have tired to figure out why???? Regards, Asif qaiyum |
What does "X -query hostname > help" have in it exactly?
