remote mp3s across house
alright, my response on this forum has been hit or miss, so lets see how things go tonight...
heres what i want to do:
I have a desktop running debian testing/unstable. On this computer I have roughly 18 gb of mp3 files (most of which are legal, but i'll admit some are stolen from friends) this computer has a total of 180 gb of harddrive space, so space is not an issue.
now, what i want to do is setup another linux box remotely in another room in my house, namely the living room. i want to mount my mp3s off my desktop/server, which is not a problem, this works already. i then want to be able to ssh in and start/stop/change tracks. this computer will only be a mobo/cpu, small harddrive, network card, and sound card. I have all the parts already since i build/repair computers on the side, and always have extras laying around. is there an easy way to do this? it sounds simple in my head, but i dont know about the command line mp3ing. also, is there any way to hookup a remote control or anything? i've never messed around with it, so dont really know....
i guess the real question is:
what do i need to research?
i have done some snooping and found out a little, but i know you guys always have extra answers laying around.....
