Hi People,

I am still on my remote linux desktop project and all is working well. However, when i access my machine from the outside world VNC is very slow. I am using Tight VNC, I also Tried Real VNC but the same performance is obtained.

Is there any way of speeding things up? It does work well over my local network due to there being better bandwidth.

Things I have tried include removing the desktop background, lowering resolution, reducing colour depth.

Strangely if I remote desktop over the internet to my linux machine then from my linux machine to my Windoze XP pc this runs fine when I am connecting over the internet to the Linux box..... hmmmm.

I'm sure I saw that I could turn something off which renders the display system but I have no idea what it is.....

I tried my Friend Search but could not find anything of help to me....

This is not very related, but there is a new technology called NX that provides significant speed improvement for X and VNC connections. You can try to install the FreeNX server on your Linux machine.
