Remote authentication
Hi there, I'm a bit new to Linux so I'm hoping someone can enlighten me.
I've recently started working for a small company that runs a Linux Samba server and every client is running on a workgroup. I was wondering how to set up remote authentication.... and if possible having roming profiles? I'm sure it's possible, I just have no idea what part of linux does it, I've seen bits of NIS but I'm not sure this is what I want. Many thanks Gary |
Welcome to LQ.
Which system do you want to store the details in? Do you want to link into an existing system? If you are looking to implement a central repository then LDAP is a good solution: http://www.openldap.org |
what flavor windooze your clients are running i have a smb.conf file i could mail to you and you could make the nessary changes. it's quite simple (i hate when people say that)
