1) running kde Desktop over ssh.
Just log into the server using ssh. If you want to run kde session just type the command "startkde"(I am using a RedHat 9 machine).

joesixon joesixon $ ssh joesixon@192.168.0.27
joesixon@192.168.0.27's password:
joesixon joesixon $ startkde

You will see a lot of error messages like this in your terminal. You can jus ignore this

2) X applications over ssh

add the your machine into the xhosts

xhost +remote.sysyem.com

then in your local machine display env variable

set DISPLAY="mymachine.com:0"

then run application like gimp, xmms, xclock etc.

xmessage -nearmouse 'We are watching you!!!' &

Note: For me its running fine without any manual settings.

3) VNC

Download VNC first,

http://www.karlrunge.com/x11vnc/#downloading

install it in both remote and local machines,

In the remote machine,

# x11vnc -display :0

In the local machine,

# vncviewer remote.machine.com:0

You can also check following link for more details,

4) Linux Terminal Server Project

I am not familiar with this too, hope I can try this when I gets a lot of free time.

5) Remote serial connection

This has nothing to do with our current topic, but i think this should be interesting topic for you.

More then enough, wot you say?
