Registered DNS translate to public IP??? Why??

I have a register DNS name but when i keyin to the browser it translate itself to IP address??? Im running apache 1.3 on my ubuntu edgy. Note: i can access my website outside my internal network but it really displays the public IP of my ubuntu box... did i miss something? Is there a port that i need to ask my ISP to open for me? This problem makes me eeerrrrrrr... for almost 2 months already.. tell me guys what should i do...

Are you trying to say that when you type your domain name (http://something.com) into your browser it goes to the site then changes the address to look like this: (http://24.257.88.22) ?

When you ping your domain name does the correct address show up (the same address that is showing in the browser)?

If it is doing what I and benjithegreat98 think it is doing, showing the IP address instead of the domain name in the browser, that has nothing to do with DNS. That would be a function of your apache (webserver) configuration. Although having that would be very strange. You must have tweaked something out to get a result like that.

Peace,
