redhat9-router-internet problem
I'm having a problem with my internet connection on redhat9, i have a router (nokia m11), connected to eth0, and i can see its interface and make changes to it through a browser the usual way. trying to access any site however gives me a site not found error almost instantly.
I am dual booting and in winxp, there is no problem with the internet connection, so i think there must be something wrong with a setting in RH9, but i cant work out what it is.
TIA
-vierstein

I would think that it's either that you have no default gateway set, or there's no DNS resolution occurring. Either way, here goes:
/etc/sysconfig/network should contain the line:
GATEWAY=xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx (the IP address of the router)
/etc/resolv.conf should containthe line(s):
nameserver xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx (1st DNS server)
nameserver yyy.yyy.yyy.yyy (2nd DNS server)
See if that helps.
If not, are you using DHCP?
Carl.

The ability to be able to access the router does not mean that it's set as the gateway. It sounds as though the router is acting as your DHCP server, that means you need to have the DHCP client installed on your RH system.
Carl.
