Redhat 9.0 "dfe530+" startx problems
I'm installed redhat 9.0 on my system without any problems. I need a "how to" install dlink dfs 530 or netgear fa311 nic on my system. When i have the dlink installed it says bringing up eth0 and has a green ok on right side of the screen. I tried to chek the eth0 with the ifconfig command but get an error. also my system crashes when i do startx.

thx for helping

That is a huge file!! I went threw it but didn't find any readily visible errors. there is a line at the top that says:
(WW) Open APM failed (/dev/apm_bios) (nosuch device)

Other than that i didn't see anything that failed.

An error in this log file will be preceded by 'ee'.you can use grep for,
'grep ee XFree.0.log ',or so.

I really appreciate your help.
There were no errors in the log file.

try reconfiguring X using Xconfigurator(that may be 'redhat-config-xfree86'or something in RH 9) or xf86config.

xf86config will create a new /etc/X11/XF86Config where as XFree 4.x will search for the -4 one first. So if you are going to use this one, then you will have to delete your /etc/X11/XF86Config-4 file. There is no such problem with the other one.
