sounds to easy
I know this sounds too easy but have you checked your Default Gateway to make sure that it is set
#route
or
#route -n
The "default gateway" should be set to your networks gateway address.
if your gateway is not set. you would alter your "network" file in red hat this is located in /etc/sysconfig/ this varies a little between distros.
an example network configuration may look like:
<example>
NETWORKING=yes
HOSTNAME=Workstation1
BOOTPROTO=static
IPADDR= 128.64.32.16
NETMASK=255.255.248.0
GATEWAY= 128.64.32.1
</example>
Where the GATEWAY==your_default_gateway.
Or it might be something else but that sounds like a good bet.
also can you communicate with other computers inside your own network?
