Red Hat VM ESX 3.5 NIC not working properly

Hi.
Hoping someone may know a little about Virtualising Red Hat and ESX3.5.
I have tried to creat a new Red Hat Virtual Machine from scratch, but the NIC doesn't seem to function properly.
eth0 actually has been configured with valid Static IP, and does also pick up a DHCP allocated IP, but can't ping from or to the device.
I have recreated the VM machine, reinstalled the card with same results.
It is active.
I've used the Enhanced vmxnet adapter, as well as the default one with same result.
Anyone with any ideas would be much appreciated!!!
