Receiving ext. mail - redhat & sendmail

I've just replaced my old RH5 systems with RH9. I've done a pretty generic redhat install with sendmailand the like. Here's the problem.... I can send mail internally, and send mail out, but no mail is coming in.

I don't see anything in the maillog... and it's not bouncing.

The MX and DNS stuff is fine, as it's all done remotely and worked this morning with the old server.

any thoughts would be greatly appreciated... cap

it's not a case of sending / recieving it's more fluid than that. sendmail, an smtp server just forms one link in a delivery chain, where one a client gives mail to an smtp server, which then gives it to another smtp and so on until iut reaches it's goal. Note that these GIVE mail they don't TAKE, just need to see the difference, the transaction is initiated by the giver, not the taker, which is the case with imap and other servers..

smtp says:

"I want to give you this mail."
"Ok then, thanks i have accepted it"

imap says:

"I want some mail from you"
"here you are then"
