Reboots when connected to Cable Modem
I have two cable modems in my apartment. One has a common dynamic connection which connects to a Linksys router and my LAN. The second cable modem uses a static businness service and connects directly to my gaming server.
I have been running a Q3TA server on a Win2K server for about a year now. Recently I took the exact same hardware and intalled Red Hat 7.3 (not dual booting).
When I boot Linux without any network connection everything works fine. When I boot with Linux connected to my router/LAN everything works fine. When I boot Linux with the network connected directly to the static service/cable modem it reboots when eth0 is being detected (or whatever Linux is doing when it boots and go's throught the checks). Also, if I boot Linux without the static/modem connected and log in, then connect the cable modem, the computer will reboot after a few seconds.
The NIC is a 3Com 3C905-TX which works great under Windows and is fully compatable with Red Hat Linux 7.3
Any Ideas? I have searched and searched but found no accurance of this probolem......
