Reasons to change fixed IPs in our Lan to DHCP?

Hi all,

I just want a couple of opinions from experience.

Our lan has 18 pc's, all of them with fixed IP.

Is there a reason why I should switch them to a DHCP enviroment?

I already have a server running Samba where I may accomodate the DHCP server. (I suppose there shouldn't be too much overhead should it?)

If everything is working fine, don't switch. I help maintain a company LAN with over 150 client machines, each with their own static IP address. It makes log entries and port scans of the network much easier. If I notice a lot of traffic coming from an IP, it is only a quick lookup to figure out who is running Kazaa.

Static IP's also help keep unauthorized laptops off your network.
