realtek 8821AE issues

Ok so first off I am pretty new with linux i'm still learning just about everything. I have Kali Linux (Kernel Version) 4.9.0-Kali3-686-pae (not sure what all is needed there) installed in virtual box and i am on a windows 10 desktop most post i've seen is laptop related and has not helped.
Currently I am running a wired connection but would also like the option for wireless as well i've been searching online for about 4 hours now and nothing has helped.

The problem i'm running into is when I first installed there was no option for wifi at all that I can remember so I downloaded the compat-wireless-2010-06-26-p file that everything i've read has said to do.
after doing that I am able to see an option for wifi but when trying to set it up no networks can be found or connected to through the hidden network option. I'm honestly stuck here and was wondering if anyone would be able to help?

Your question was answered in that thread but I will restate it here. The VirtualBox guest can not use a physical wireless adapter unless it is a USB device.
