Hello guys
I have tried a lot with ldap configuration. Then also iam not
able to set it right. This is my slapd.conf file

database ldbm

suffix "dc=my,dc=net"
rootdn "cn=root,dc=my,dc=net"

rootpw secret
rootpw {crypt}HVrk39A.NuY5M

directory /var/lib/ldap

index objectClass,uid,uidNumber,gidNumber,memberUid eq
index cn,mail,surname,givenname eq,subinitial
defaultaccess read
access to attr=userpassword
by self write
by dn="cn=root, dc=web,dc=com" write
by * compare

i tried connecting to the server with the command

ldapadd -f initial.ldif -x -D "cn=Manager,dc=example,dc=com" -w secret
it is asking for the password.i entered the password bhel i,e hash of the above crypt. Then it is showing the error

ldap_bind : invalid credentials

what password i should give.Send me sir a sample slapd.conf
file with how to connect using a client and how to give the password.

OK, a couple of things. To start of with you need to login as the rootdn then you can add a Manager user if you want. You could also change the rootdn to be Manager if you wish. You should also have just one password. Delete the password entries that are there and create a new one with an encrypted password generated by "slappasswd"
