RAS Configuration

Hi everybody,
Can anyone help me out in configuring a DI-540 RAS. The setup is that I have a linux machine with two ethernet cards acting as a firewall. One ethernet card is connected to the internal network and our telephone is connected to the modem which is connected to the RAS(Remote Access Server). The ourput from the RAS is connected to the other ethernet and I have to provide dial-up facility to a number of user. It will be helpful me if anyone can give the entire procedure.

My second problem is that how can I determine through a C program that the ppp connection through the modem is broken??

Thanks in advance.

Shibdas
