Ralink RT2870 Connection Issues - Ubuntu 9.04

I'm using a Ralink RT2870 USB 2.0 Wireless N adapter, and I can't seem to connect to my network when using Ubuntu. I find it strange that it does not ask me to specify the encryption of AES.

If I choose to connect to my network with Ubuntu, I enter :

- my SSID name
- choose security type : (WPA & WPA2 personal)
- enter my password
then click connect
the little network icon starts "rolling"...
then a message box shows asking me for the required password.

The password (shown if I click the show password box) looks like a generated pw! If I enter my wlan pw again, it goes searching for a minute and the same message appears again.

I haven't tried making my network visible, but I hear that it fixes the issue?

How do I get connected with my Ralink adapter?

The size of the pass word or the pass phrase will automatically let the program know the encryption I have AES on my router I I do not use it. I just manually set up the wep or what ever encrypt you want. you will see for different types of encrypt there are different amounts of letter or digits. This acts like a key for the program.
I found I had to set it on my router side and my kubuntu does fine and slack and mandriva puppylinux etc etc. AES Is a nice protocol for a large amount of machines.
I have 3 machines on my router and I do not want any more so I set it up so only those
addresses can be used. AES Reads your machine id and will only allow that machine to connect.. In all it is supposed to work great In Linux, there has been a couple issues I worked out but have no need for it.
You get everything connected then you push you AES button it then is supposed to remember those machine ID's . Nice for a large system. It is work well for other non free systems
I will not use there name here.

All and All I think you really need to learn how to use the network manager. You must first set up a connection profile. good luck.
