Quick Overview

I am a NEWWWBIE and was wondering if someone could give me a quick overview of how to setup and deploy my network.

I am on RedHat 8.0.
I use a residential cable modem.
I use a router
I have two Ethernet cards ETH0 and ETH1, respectively.
I downloaded Tripwire, but don't know how to use it or even if I should use it.
I need some sort of firewall besides my router.
I would like to run FTP,HTTP,WWW, and MAIL services.
I would like to have a VPN.

If someone could either tell me or point me to a tutorial, I would be grateful.

Thanks in advance,

That's alot of stuff.. not quite sure I'm ready to write a novel for you as you can read the HowTo's at

Feel free to ask more specific questions if you run into more detailed problems.
