Red face questions on router


I have a router ,after I connect to internet through it ,when I open firefox,it always came to the screen in which I need name and password to log in router. However ,the screen came out again after I log in when I open firefox connect to google or any other sites.
But I ping www.google.com ,no packages lost. What is the problem ,need for help !!! Thanks.

What are you entering in the location bar of your browser? Is it the IP address or name of your router? Is it the ID and password for your ISP?

Most routers do provide a login for configuration and monitoring, you do not need to log into it to use the router.

Open a konsole on your system and enter the following command. Cut and paste the results here.

'netstat -r' just enter what is between the quotes. You should see something like this:

Kernel IP routing table
Destination Gateway Genmask Flags MSS Window irtt Iface
default cisco 0.0.0.0 UG 0 0 0 eth0
loopback * 255.0.0.0 U 0 0 0 lo
localnet * 255.255.255.0 U 0 0 0 eth0
Notice the line on left "default" and "cisco" this is my router, there may be an IP address there, at least there should be one or the other. If not, your system is not configured with a default gateway.

What is the name and model of this router?

Well,when I open my browser,it jumped to router login screen.
It just came out the same depite of what sites I inputed in that bar.

look, This is my screenshot of command "netstat -r" :

I don't know what these mean,need a hand

What have you got set in the Home Page setting on your web browser? Make sure its not the hostname or ip address of your router.

Have you ever configure the router? Do you know how to access the config pages?

Your default gateway is set O.K.

Could you post the contests of /etc/hosts file?

This is my content of /etc/hosts:
127.0.0.1
::1

I have conifgured my router,and nothing become better.
I guess my router got something wrong.

Well,thanks for your kindness
I have gave up using that stupid router for wasting me lot of time.
However, I want to know if there are some books for beginners on Linux kernel ;I want to know exactly what happens inside.
Do you know any ?

I would remove the second line, I have no idea what affect this may have.

Most routers are not difficult to configure. If you want help, I'm sure we can guide you.
