Question Questions about Samba 3?

I have Samba 3 beta running on a RH9 box that is configured as a PDC. I upgraded from 2.27 for testing purposes. I am curious about the new passdb backends, specifically the tdbsam one. Since i upgraded, I have in my global section "passdb packend - smbpasswd, tdbsam, guest" (to maintain backward compatiblity with Samba 2.2x. I am wondering how do i import the data from smbpasswd to the tdbsam database? Or is there no need for this, since i read it doesn't require configuration? If so how does this work, I am obviously not understanding this? I have read the online doc from samba.org but can only find 2 or 3 short descriptions on the tdbsam feature. Can anyone give me specifics(location of the database and ultilities).?

Thanks,

Greg
