Unhappy Question For Vengenc . DSL TROBLE

I added my ip address to everything... i think, when i went to /etc/resolve.conf , i found that there was a file named /etc/resolv.conf i thought it was a mistake on the computers behave so i changed the name and added an e then i went inside and found this
nameserver 64.81.159.2
nameserver 216.231.41.2

those are my DNS numbers but when i go to ping my routeri still get
$ Ping 64.81.227.1
Ping 64.81.227.1 (64.81.227.1) 56(84) bytes of data.
From 64.81.227.149 icmp_seq=1 Destinationj Host Unreachable
From 64.81.227.149 icmp_seq=2 Destinationj Host Unreachable
From 64.81.227.149 icmp_seq=3 Destinationj Host Unreachable
From 64.81.227.149 icmp_seq=4 Destinationj Host Unreachable
From 64.81.227.149 icmp_seq=5 Destinationj Host Unreachable

also when i do

# ifconfig
eth0 Link encap:Ethernet Hwaddr 00:B00:B4:61:09
inet addr:64.81.227.149 Bcast:64.81.227.255

The resolv.conf file is a place to add your ISP's DNS entries so your computer can translate name to IP when browsing the web. If those are you ISP's actual DNS IP's, leave the file alone and keep the name resolv.conf or you won't be able to browse the web.

Can you get on the internet at all? Your gateway might be unpingable as it might block such requests?

Is your gateway listed in your lists of routes by typing route?
